Taking bookings for July 2021 onwards, The Gardens at Polehanger is an attractive and secluded outdoor venue in Meppershall, Bedfordshire. The Gardens at Polehanger provide you with the space to put together your celebration your way.

The Gardens at Polehanger are in the grounds of Polehanger Farm. Polehanger Farm has been in the family since 1942; it was once home to an award-winning dairy herd. Nowadays the focus is on arable farming and we are excited to be opening up the stunning farmhouse garden to weddings and events.

We are a family run business, and have teamed up with the wonderful, and highly experienced, White Button Weddings to provide event management for your wedding day.

Weddings

The well-manicured gardens at the end of the tree lined driveway are a perfect spot to hold your celebration. We have heaps of space, a beautiful setting and uninterrupted countryside views, leaving you to create your own rustic venue with chalkboards and fairy lights galore or a simple yet elegant romantic setting for you and your guests in this unique outdoor venue.  When you hire the Gardens at Polehanger, you will have exclusive use of the site for your special day which includes the two bedroom cottage to prepare for your day and to spend your wedding night.

As part of our package, you will have use of the Gardens at Polehanger, the two-bedroom cottage, parking, power and water and an event manager to oversee your day. You will need to hire in your own structure (including tables and chairs) and toilets. You are then free to create whatever you want with your decorations, flowers, food, drinks and entertainment – the bigger the imagination, the better!

Ceremonies

We have plenty of room in the Gardens for you to have a blessing or a ceremony. The Gardens at Polehanger does not have a licence for the legal bit yet, but we would love for you to celebrate your marriage with friends and family in our beautiful outdoor venue. If you wanted an alternative setting for a ceremony the Polehanger Farm River Woodland is a short walk away through the fields and a beautiful setting at any time of year.

The beauty of the Gardens at Polehanger is that we are a blank canvas outdoor venue, therefore you can bring in all your own suppliers. We won’t tie you into a “preferred list”, so you have free rein to put your dream day together as you wish.  We can of course recommend structure and toilet hire companies, which will be essential for your day.  Everything else is up to you! 

Your wedding day

Our experienced event managers (White Button Weddings) will be on hand throughout your day, from liaising with suppliers, to overseeing set up on the site, and keeping your day ticking over according to your plans. 

We want you to have the best possible experience, so having an event manager on site provides peace of mind that the day will be overseen from start to finish.  This means you can relax from the moment you wake, to your last spin around the dance floor at your reception.  

Accommodation

We have a 2-bedroom cottage for you to prepare for your day and to start married lifeWe’ll provide you with a continental breakfast on your first morning as a married couple.  We are in the process of renovating the cottage, ready for weddings next year, so no photos yet but we know you’ll be in for a treat!

Other events

We are open to outdoor venue bookings for other events and parties. The same package applies – you hire the cottage and the Gardens from us, bring in your structure and toilets and arrange to party your way!

Yes, no other weddings or events will be held at the same time. 

As part of our standard package, you will be able to access the 2-bedroom cottage and the Gardens from 9am on your wedding day, until noon the day after. Talk to us about any extra nights in the cottage, or hire of the Gardens at Polehanger for pre-celebration dinner / a post-celebration brunch or lunch.  

We provide only the 2bedroom cottage, the Gardens, car parkingpower and water as well as an event manager.  You will need to hire a structure for the garden. Marquee, tipi, yurt? Its your day, so do it your way! With so many options for structures, we want you to be able to choose your own style for our ‘blank canvas’.  You will also need to hire toilets We can recommend structure companies and toilet hire companies. 

No. We want you to have the flexibility to choose your own caterers. Informal BBQ? Formal meal? Street food? Buffet? Pizza? There are so many options, so we want you to be able to choose.

You will then of course need to find your own bar, music/entertainment and decorations.

No, we do not. We will have a license for you to bring in a bar to sell drinks to your guests, or you may bring your own drinks to be served to your guests.  If you do wish to serve your own drinks, we do not provide staff to serve drinks, but you can speak to  your caterer, who will likely be able to do so. 

No. You may already have an idea of your vision and your suppliers for your wedding day, so we don’t want to tie you in to our suppliers. It’s your day – it should be how you want it! (We can recommend companies for the hire of the structure and the toilets). Our partner, White Button Weddings, provides planning packages, where they can source and arrange your suppliers, so be sure to ask for more details.

You will need to hire a structure that can fit the number of guests that you wish to have, so you will need to check with your structure company how many tables/chairs they can fit. The maximum number of guests, regardless of structure, is 150.
